BSA is another way of stating English threading; it comes from British Standard Cycle. English threading on road bikes mean a 68mm wide, 34mm inside diameter shell with reverse threading on the drive side. It’s the most common threaded standard employed today. This high-speed racing chain is carefully selected and optimized by hand in Denmark and the techniques and lubes used are proven to help you save watts on race day. Two to five-watt savings are not uncommon and this particular Dura-Ace HG901 11-speed chain is specific to Shimano groups.
We'd recommend using the chain just on race day as its efficiency begins to drop off after around 600 km or 370 miles of clean and dry riding. The UFO treatment is not optimized for wet and muddy conditions, sorry mountain bikers and 'cross racers, and might cause chain corrosion. The CeramicSpeed UFO Chains go through a multi-step process that involves polishing the link's sliding surfaces, cleaning off the inefficient factory lube, and the application of two layers of treatment to achieve the chain's best possible efficiency.
A wax base is utilized and applied at a specific temperature, as it was discovered through testing, to be the most efficient. Several recipes of different ratios of additives to the base were tested until the most efficient formula was achieved. Finally, Teflon powder is applied to the chain for maximum friction reduction. CeramicSpeed recommends the use of Squirt chain lube during maintenance intervals to keep the optimization going for as long as possible.
